Roanoke hotel, convention center moves into bidding process

Roanoke city council hired a general contracting firm to bid out the hotel and convention center project for construction at the Feb. 10 council meeting. 

What’s happening?: The firm, Brasfield & Gorrie, will prepare recommendations for council on which firm to hire for constructing the hotel and convention center, which will include the guaranteed maximum price for the project, according to city documents. 

City staff estimated the cost of the project would be $62 million, Community Impact previously reported. 

Garfield Public/Private, an engineering design firm, is creating the design and construction documents for the project, which have not been finalized yet. 

The project will include conference rooms, meeting rooms, a ballroom, hotel amenities and a restaurant, according to previous reporting.

Hounds Town celebrates one year of pet services in north Fort Worth

A family-owned and operated dog daycare center in north Fort Worth recently celebrated its one-year anniversary.

The details: Hounds Town offers dog daycare, dog and cat boarding, pet spa and pet taxi services, Fort Worth owner Melissa Pittman said. The location in north Fort Worth first opened February 2025, she said.

The business started in 2000 and was founded by a former New York Police Department canine handler, according to its website.

Hounds Town has four other locations in Texas, including Fort Worth, North Richland Hills, Little Elm and Dallas.
