Northwest ISD voters to consider $12M boost from November tax rate election

Northwest ISD is looking to increase its tax rate through voter approval this November. If approved, the increased tax rate would go toward teacher salaries and reducing classroom sizes.

The current situation: If approved, only one of the district’s two tax rates would increase, while the other would remain flat. The total tax rate would be a decrease from the last fiscal year.

Casi Cielo Coffee in Keller extends operating days

A local coffee business, Casi Cielo Coffee, has extended its operating days from Fridays and Saturdays to a Monday through Saturday schedule starting in September.

What they offer: Casi Cielo Coffee is a coffee cart inside the local bookstore, A House With Books, in Keller. The cart will now operate from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. from Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Renovations happening inside, outside of Grapevine Mills

During the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce luncheon Sept. 25, Grapevine Mills general manager Joe Szymaszek announced some upcoming changes at the shopping mall.

Szymaszek talked about new stores, attractions and renovations coming to the Simon Property Group-owned mall.

“We always like to keep things fresh,” he said. “We always like to give the shopper a reason to come back.”

What’s happening: Syzmaszek said the mall underwent interior renovations in 2016, and the food court renovation was completed in 2019.

Now, he said, the focus is on the exterior. Faded parking signs have been replaced, exterior walls have been repainted and landscaping improvements have been done near Saks Off 5th and Primark, a store that will be opening in November.
