Belk:
The department store recently opened one of two new stores introducing a fresh concept called Belk Market in Frisco, said Holly Richter, Belk vice president of corporate communications and associate experience. Customers can expect new items across men’s, women’s and kids’ apparel, as well as shoes, handbags, accessories, home décor and fine jewelry.

Mio Gusto Italian Cuisine: The restaurant offers antipasta dishes, including house-made beef meatballs, baked clams and bruschetta, along with salads and soups. Pasta dishes include lasagna, ziti al forno, penne alla vodka and spaghetti, according to its online menu.

Texas Tabletop Society:
The business will be a family-friendly space and feature a growing library of more than 1,000 modern board games, which Bradshaw said is one of the largest open collections in the area. The business will have premium tables, comfortable seating and a welcoming atmosphere designed for families, friends and gamers of all experience levels.

Winters Park Academy to offer STEM-focused education in Frisco

A new private school with a curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or STEM, is opening in Frisco.

The overview: Winters Park Academy is launching for the second semester of the 2025-26 school year and is accepting students to finish out this school year or for the upcoming 2026-27 school year, founder and CEO Brandi Johnson said in an email. The academy is focused on STEM education, Johnson said, and utilizes a research-based approach for academic achievement through STEM activities.

Cirrus Aircraft debuts 50,000-square-foot facility at McKinney National Airport

Cirrus Aircraft’s new facility at McKinney National Airport is the “first of its kind” for the brand, said Bobby Moorehead, director at the new location.

The specifics: An open house was hosted for the 50,000-square-foot facility in November after opening earlier this year. Cirrus Aircraft offers a variety of private aviation services including flight training and concierge services. The facility features a flight simulation space, a retail store and more. Cirrus Aircraft officials broke ground on the new facility in 2023.

Quote of note: “Cirrus of McKinney is the first of this concept and it is a very important part of who Cirrus Aircraft is,” Moorehead said.

Charter school system launches online high school courses for students statewide

Texas charter system Harmony Public Schools launched a new virtual learning platform on Jan. 5 that allows students across the state to take high school courses online.

The overview: The Harmony Online Learning program includes dozens of courses aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards, all of which are self-paced, according to a news release.

More details: Students can choose from dozens of courses in core subjects, electives, Advanced Placement and Career and Technical Education, according to the program’s website. The offerings aim to help students complete credit recovery, get ahead with their requirements and access courses not available at their home campus. Credit earned through Harmony may be applied toward high school graduation requirements depending on local district policies, per the release.

One more thing: Interested families can enroll online, and spring courses begin Jan. 12, per the release. The cost of tuition per course is $325, a spokesperson from Harmony Public Schools told Community Impact.
