Grapevine-Colleyville ISD trustees approve $3M in campus, facility improvements

Two Grapevine-Colleyville ISD facilities will undergo roughly $3 million in renovations following trustee approval at a Jan. 22 board meeting.

The details: The career and technical culinary program at Colleyville Heritage High School will receive about $2.3 million to install a prep kitchen and kitchen work area, according to district documents.

The facility services office and small warehouse, near the GCISD administration building, will receive about $591,000 to replace the roof, which is currently leaking, district Chief Operations Officer Paula Barbaroux said.

“It has been leaking for quite some time and has been in need of replacement,” Barbaroux said.

The projects are part of the 2024 bond package, which voters approved in May 2024, according to the district’s website.

Pickture Perfect Medspa to relocate to Colleyville

Pickture Perfect Medspa is relocating from Bedford to Colleyville to offer aesthetic and wellness services, said Misty Fulgencio, the founder and chief executive officer.
 
The details: The business offers neurotoxins, such as botox, dermal fillers, medical weight management, microneedling, advanced skin rejuvenation, custom facials and permanent makeup services, she said. 

The new Colleyville location will include six additional suites, which will be leased to independent beauty and wellness professionals, Fulgencio said. 

Quote of note: “This allows us to create a true one-stop destination for guests, offering complementary services under one roof while supporting other local entrepreneurs in the beauty and wellness industry,” she said. “We are actively seeking like-minded beauty and wellness professionals to lease suites within the space, creating a collaborative, elevated environment for both providers and guests.” 

Looking ahead: The business will be opening in new location Feb. 2.

Southlake Open Reward program set to launch for 3rd year in February

The Southlake Open Rewards Program will be rolled out for the third year Feb. 1.

Dylan Duque, economic development and tourism specialist, provided details on the cash-back savings program during the Jan. 6 council meeting.

The program debuted the program Jan. 22, 2023, which provided 5% cash back through shopping, dining, shopping and entertainment at Southlake businesses through an app called Open Rewards.

The details: The city has allocated $100,000 for the program in 2026, the same amount as last year, according to Duque. The city has seen a total economic impact of $3.5 million over the last two years from the program.

A closer look: He said there will be 365 businesses that are taking part in this year’s program, which will run into late spring or until the city has exhausted $100,000 in rewards claimed.

The Open Rewards app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

Dallas-Fort Worth icy roads expected to continue melting through Wednesday

With temperatures reaching above 32 degrees across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex on Tuesday, icy roads began to melt; however, roads are expected to refreeze overnight as temperatures drop again.

While the DFW area is not going to see anymore freezing precipitation, roads are not going to have a chance to clear again until mid-day Wednesday, National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Bishop said.

Quote of note: "Whatever melted today is going to refreeze tonight," he said. 

Current situation: Temperatures are expected to drop into the low 20s again Tuesday into Wednesday, Bishop said, which will cause more issues on area roads and sidewalks. Currently, roads are expected to improve more on Wednesday afternoon than they did Tuesday, he said. 

Temperature highs are expected to be in the 40s Wednesday and around 50 degrees Thursday, per the NWS.
