Counter Culture reentered Austin’s dining scene on Sept. 8, according to the brand’s Instagram. Led by owner Susan Davis, the plant-based restaurant now has a permanent location in Austin’s Windsor Park neighborhood.
On the menu: Counter Culture offers plant-based comfort food, as well as healthy and gluten-free options, Davis explained. The restaurant also has a dedicated gluten-free grill.
Diners can expect to see menu items like the Asian BBQ seitan skewers served over a bed of slaw. The grilled seitan is a fully plant-based dish.
The history: Counter Culture had a previous food trailer, which opened in 2009, and later a brick-and-mortar, before Davis closed the location to build a purposeful space, according to its website.
