The University of Texas at Austin has plans to build a residence hall dedicated for law students at East Dean Keeton Street and Medical Arts Street, according to a university news release.
About the project: The Texas Law residence hall will provide:
- Over 300 beds
- A library-style reading room
- A cafe
- A gym
- Two roof decks
It is located directly across the street from the Texas Law Schools, and will break ground in March, the news release states. Construction is scheduled to be completed ahead of residents moving in August 2028.
What they’re saying: “As changes in the Austin rental market increased costs for some students while driving others to commute long distances, we saw this as a challenge that could also be an opportunity,” Bobby Chesney, dean of the UT School of Law, said in the news release. “The residence hall will deliver on that with a remarkable boost to community, value and proximity for our students.”
