The Yard Gym, an Australian-based fitness company, has opened a location in North San Antonio. The details: The Yard Gym offers an elevated boutique fitness experience. Each Yard Gym is designed with a dual-zone setup, featuring a “rig” strength side and a “turf” conditioning side. This design provides customers with an eight-week structured approach to maximize results. Each workout is blended with one-on-one personal training within a group session, according to a news release.
Known as the Yard Gym Alon, the gym is located on Northwest Military Highway and provides a family-friendly environment with core flow classes and supervised childcare.
A second location at 1101 Broadway, known as the Yard Gym Broadway, offers mat pilates and a recovery space that features a sauna and cold plunge sessions.
Both gyms offer a running club and hybrid sessions on Sundays for competitive athletes seeking training to increase stamina and endurance for events, such as marathons, according to the release.
A national bank chain is relocating one of its branches in the northern part of the Alamo city, out of the La Cantera area.
The details: PNC Bank has filed to relocate one of its branches in North San Antonio, moving from 15900 La Cantera Parkway, Ste. 3445, to 5518 N. Loop 1604 W., Ste. 105.
Cari Hensley, a regional communications director for the banking institution, said that a timeline is currently unknown for the branch’s move.
The context: The move comes in the midst of PNC plans to add nine more branches across the San Antonio metro by 2029, as previously reported by Community Impact.
The Pennsylvania-based bank chain is known for traditional banking services, from small business management to online personal banking, according to their website.
Hill & Bach Cellars to bring new winery to Boerne's Main Street
A new winery is headed to Boerne’s Hill Country Mile this winter.
In case you missed it: Called Hill & Bach Cellars, the California-sourced winery will take the place of the Old Luckenbach House at 265 N. Main St.
The winery’s customer service representative told Community Impact that they have an updated opening timeframe of January or February 2026.
What are the options? According to their website, customers will be able to choose from a variety of wines sourced from Paso Robles, California, a region known for its vineyards.
Flavors range from Cactus Bloom—a Pinot Grigio—to Hat & Cattle, a Cabernet Sauvignon.
Additionally, the website says that there will be an exclusive wine club membership available for tasting socials, events and more.
Renderings of the new winery show an outdoor seating area and an expansion of the original Luckenbach House currently on the property.
South Texas Blood & Tissue opens new Live Oak donor center
A new location is now open to donate blood and tissue in Northeast San Antonio.
The gist: On Aug. 27, South Texas Blood & Tissue, located at 7529 N. Loop 1604 East, Ste. 115, welcomed residents in Live Oak and beyond to its donor center location.
South Texas Blood & Tissue Center began providing blood to the South Texas region to ensure a "safe and adequate blood supply through proper testing, storage and distribution to hospitals," according to the center's website.
Along with blood and tissue donations, the organization accepts donations of marrow and stem cells as well as cord blood and birth tissue. South Texas Blood & Tissue has other donor centers in the San Antonio, New Braunfels and Boerne areas, according to its website.
