Voters across Bastrop County approved the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages, including mixed drinks, in the Nov. 3 election, according to unofficial results.
Why it matters: Bastrop County Tourism and Economic Development Director Adena Lewis told Community Impact the elections were intended to align alcohol-sales boundaries, including areas annexed into cities or affected by precinct boundary changes.
As previously reported, some businesses could not apply for mixed-beverage licenses because of their location—despite being near other businesses that could.
By the numbers: The measures passed in each of the county's four justice of the peace precincts and the cities of Bastrop, Elgin and Smithville, with support ranging from 74.07% to 80.48%.
Something to note: Businesses will still need the appropriate permits from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission before selling alcohol.
What's next: Local officials must canvass election results between Nov. 6 and 17, according to the Texas Secretary of State.
