Q&A: Meet the candidates running for Keller mayor

Learn more about the candidates running to be the city of Keller’s next mayor.

What you need to know: Residents can vote for Keller’s next mayor in the upcoming May 2 election. There are three candidates in the running after Mayor Armin Mizani decided not to run for reelection, instead running for the Texas House District 98 seat in the upcoming November election.

The mayoral election is one of four Keller City Council positions up for election this year.

Candidates were asked to keep responses within 50 words, answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents. Answers may have been edited or cut to adhere to those guidelines, or for style and clarity.

Looking ahead: Early voting for the May 2 election will start April 20 and run through April 28. The last day to register to vote is April 2.

3 updates from the March 10 Fort Worth City Council meeting

An engineering contract, possible runaway expansion at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport and adjustments to the Fort Worth Police Department’s Crime Control Prevention District budget were items on the March 10 city council meeting agenda.

What you need to know: Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. will provide engineering work for the water and sanitary sewer main relocation project near US 287 at the Bonds Branch Road and Willow Springs Road intersections. A map of the project indicates that the work will be situated in Council District 10, adjacent to the Council District 4 border.

Also of note: The city will apply for a $1.5 million infrastructure grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for airport joint reseal, pavement improvements, relocation of Taxiway Papa fence and road and extension of Taxiway Papa. The city's matching protein would be $172,590, according to city documents.

What else? Fort Worth City Council approved $1.85 million in changes for the Crime Control and Prevention District budget for fiscal year 2025-26.

Northwest ISD sells land to Trophy Club for future roundabout

Northwest ISD sold a little more than 1 acre to the town of Trophy Club.

The land is located at the northwest corner of Bobcat Boulevard and Marshall Creek.

The town will use that land and easements from the district to add a roundabout to improve traffic congestion on Bobcat Boulevard and Marshall Creek Drive, according to a presentation at the Feb. 23 town council meeting.

What you need to know: The Bobcat Traffic Improvements Project is a multi-phase initiative aimed at improving traffic safety, circulation and pedestrian mobility near Bryon Nelson High School and Medlin Middle School, according to town documents.

According to previous reporting, the total project cost is $4.5 million, with $2.5 million coming from a 2023 town bond and $2 million from a Denton County Transportation Road Improvement Program grant.

The outlook: The timeline for construction includes a timeline of:

  • Bidding in March
  • Council approval in April
  • Construction from June 2026 to June 2027

Plano bridge repairs 
Project

Project:
The work includes constructing frontage roads on I-35W from 0.7 miles south of FM 407 to FM 2449, according to Texas Department of Transportation documents.
Update: TxDOT is working to acquire right of way for the project, move utilities and finalize design plans. The project is planning to go out to bid for construction in December 2027.
