Babin’s Seafood House is celebrating 25 years in operation in September and offering limited-time special throughout the month, according to a news release.

What’s on the menu: Babin's Seafood House offers South Lousiana dishes such as crawfish etouffee, gumbo and various seafood bisques. The anniversary special includes a three-course dinner with starter, entree and dessert.

Zooming in: Babin’s was founded in 2001 and purchased by Landry’s alongside Saltgrass Steakhouse in 2002. It has two locations, one in Shenandoah and the other in Katy.

The office of Gov. Greg Abbott announced a $138 billion investment in Texas transportation infrastructure, including projects in the Greater Houston region, according to an Aug. 27 news release from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The Unified Transportation Program for 2026 was approved during an August meeting of the Texas Transportation Commission.

The breakdown: The program’s funding is divided into two portions, $95 billion for transportation projects across the state, and $43 billion which is reserved for routine maintenance and development. The total of $138 billion is intended to be spent on projects and maintenance over the next 10 years, according to the news release.

Here are some of the plans for the 2027 UTP:

• The North Houston Highway Improvement Project continues to be a priority for the Houston District, with several projects planned within the first four years of the UTP.

Four candidates are running for Texas lieutenant governor—the second-in-command to the governor—in the Nov. 3 election.

What's happening: Libertarian Anthony Cristo, Democrat Vikki Goodwin and Green Party candidate Kevin McCormick are challenging Republican incumbent Dan Patrick, who is seeking a fourth term.

The lieutenant governor leads the Texas Senate and can exercise the powers of the governor if the governor dies, resigns, is removed from office or is absent from the state, according to the Texas State Historical Association.

How we got here: Patrick won his Republican primary race in March, while Goodwin advanced to the general election after beating another Democrat in a May primary runoff, Community Impact reported. Cristo and McCormick were selected as their parties' respective candidates during nominating conventions in April.

Looking ahead: Early voting in the midterm election runs from Oct. 19-30, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
