St. David’s HeathCare acquires 6 Austin Emergency Centers across greater Austin area

St. David's HealthCare acquired ownership of six Austin Emergency Center locations Feb. 1.

Zooming out: The following Austin Emergency Centers across Austin and Pflugerville are now St. David's Emergency Centers:

  • Anderson Mill: 13435 Hwy. 183 N., Ste. 311, Austin
  • Arboretum: 10407 Jollyville Road, Austin
  • Wells Branch: 15100 FM 1825, Pflugerville
  • East Riverside: 2020 E. Riverside Drive, Austin
  • South Lamar: 4015 S. Lamar Blvd., Austin
  • Mueller: 1801 E. 51st St., Bldg. H, Austin

Zooming in: 
The new St. David’s centers are staffed nurses trained in emergency care and board-certified physicians who are affiliated St. David's. Patients requiring specialized services or inpatient admission may be transferred from the emergency centers to St. David's hospitals.

The impact: The Central Texas hospital system is aiming to meet an increased demand for emergency care from more Austin-area patients, David Huffstutler, president and CEO of St. David’s, said in a news release.

“These acquisitions are strategically designed to ease pressure on large medical centers and expand access to high-quality emergency care closer to home for Central Texans," Huffstutler said.

Juiced Fuel Austin bringing mobile fueling service to greater Austin area

Austin area residents will soon have a new option for convenient fueling of vehicles, boats and fleets.

What you need to know: A franchise of mobile fueling service Juiced Fuel will open in Central Texas, primarily serving the greater Austin area and Highland Lakes region, a Feb. 2 release from the company states.

Juiced Fuel was founded in Charleston, South Carolina, by Army veteran Korey McDavid and his wife Caroline.

About the owners: Ownership of the Austin-area franchise is based in Round Rock. It is owned by partners Clint and Amy Kiemsteadt and Mike and Lisa Hassel.

The details: The company brings fuel to the dock, driveway or job site to eliminate trips to the fuel pump or having to transport containers of gasoline. When the Austin service area is launched, customers can set appointments to have their vehicles or boats fueled at their convenience through the company's website or app.

Merit Coffee to open fourth Austin location in the Mueller area

Merit Coffee will open its fourth Austin coffee shop at Mueller in mid February.

The Valentine's Day opening event Feb. 14 will include giveaways, pop-ups and samples, according to the company's Instagram page.

On the menu: The San Antonio-based business serves coffee and cold brew alongside hot and iced espresso and tea beverages like lattes, cappuccinos and matcha lattes.

Current specialty drinks include the bourbon cream cold foam, strawberry cheesecake cold foam and cereal milk cold brew.

Stay tuned: Merit Coffee is planning to open two new coffee shops in Houston in 2026, Ritchie said.

Locally owned by Amy Closson, the shop's daily menu includes quiche, coffee and seven cupcake flavors available every day of the week: red velvet, blue velvet, tuxedo, strawberry, birthday cake, double chocolate and primo vanilla.

There are also special cupcake flavors available on certain days of the week such as lemon raspberry on Mondays and whiskey brownie on Fridays, as well as mystery cupcake flavors on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Toasted Yolk Cafe now serving breakfast, brunch, lunch in Round Rock

The Toasted Yolk Cafe opened Jan. 26 in Round Rock.
