Richardson ISD received a B accountability rating for the 2025-26 school year from the Texas Education Agency after three years of C ratings from the agency.

The overview: District officials said the score advancement was driven in part by growth in State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness results and an increased College, Career, and Military Readiness rate at an Aug. 6 school board meeting.

“The progress reflected in this year’s results is a reflection of the collective commitment of our teachers, leaders, staff, students and families to keeping student growth at the center of everything we do,” Superintendent Tabitha Branum said in a news release from the district. “Together, we are making meaningful progress and ensuring more students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

Some context: TEA releases annual A-F scores for campuses and districts across the state. The rating takes into account STAAR results, College, Career, and Military Readiness rates and graduation rates, said Gina Ortiz, senior executive director of accountability and continuous improvement.

Dessert shop Cookie Society is coming soon to Richardson, owner Jeff Allen confirmed in an email.

The details: Allen said the new location will “offer the full Cookie Society experience,” including the shop’s freshly-baked classic cookies, monthly rotating flavors and other dessert favorites like brownies and oatmeal cream pies.

“We’re especially excited about this location because it gives us an opportunity to serve the Richardson community, UTD students and staff and the surrounding neighborhoods,” Allen said. “Cookie Society is a family business here in North Texas, so continuing to grow throughout DFW is always special for us.”

1. Sherman Street, Lingco Drive reconstruction
Project: Crews in Richardson are reconstructing Sherman Street from Kaufman Street to Lingco Drive, and Lingco Drive from Sherman Street to Spring Valley Road.
Update: Pavement installation on Sherman Street is now complete. Concrete replacement is underway on the south half of Lingco Drive.
