Common Bond Coffee and Bakery now open in Spring

Officials with Common Bond Coffee & Bakery confirmed they have opened the doors on the franchise's newest location in Spring.

The details: According to a June 18 news release, the newest Common Bond location combined the brand's to-go concept with its bistro and bakery options to offer both on the go and dine-in options.

The Spring location will include the eatery's full menu, including:

  • Soups

  • Sandwiches

  • Pastries

  • Cakes

  • Cookies

  • Drip coffee and lattes

  • Iced refreshers and energy drinks

What else? According to the news release, the new location has 78 indoor seats with an additional 32 seats on a patio area. Common Bond will offer a number of specials and deals to celebrate the grand opening, including offering one free kids meal with an order of $14 or more.

PREVIEW: Harris County to consider $20M Reliant Center roof replacement, infrastructure committee

Harris County commissioners will discuss the official creation of a committee dedicated to streamlining county infrastructure programs, along with considering the approval of $20 million for renovation of county facilities at the Reliant Center.

The breakdown: County Administrator Erica Lee Carter presented the committee's structure and scope during the June 11 meeting, stating it will focus on creating standardized processes and procedures for infrastructure-related projects across all county departments.

What else? Commissioners will also consider roughly $20 million in renovations to county facilities at the Reliant Center in Downtown Houston. The repairs include:

  • $12 million for Reliant Center roof replacement
  • $8 million for central plant repairs

The Reliant Center roof replacement will include a full replacement of the stadium roof as well as repairs to any concealed damage due to storms, weathering and use.

Landry’s Seafood House now serving Gulf Coast cuisine in Hobby Airport

Landry’s Seafood House is now serving passengers near Gate 41 in William P. Hobby Airport, Houston Airport officials announced in a June 9 news release.

On the menu: The restaurant—which has both sit-down and bar seating—serves a variety of seafood options as well as steaks, sandwiches, salads, pasta and breakfast options, per the release. Guests can also enjoy a full bar with beer and cocktails.

Also of note: The new restaurant opening comes as the Houston area hosts the FIFA World Cup with an expected 4.5 million visitors across both Houston airports over the course of the tournament, Community Impact reported.

“Houston Airports is focused on creating a passenger experience that feels efficient, welcoming and distinctly Houston,” said Jim Szczesniak, director of aviation for Houston Airports. “Landry’s Seafood House gives Hobby Airport travelers a full-service dining option and a recognizable local connection as we prepare to welcome soccer fans from around the world.”
