McKinney ISD students see rising graduation rate, postsecondary success, report shows

An annual performance report for McKinney ISD showed students surpassed state averages in State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness scores.

Jennifer Akins, McKinney ISD’s chief school improvement and federal programs officer, presented the report to the board of trustees during a Feb. 16 meeting.

The details: The Texas Education Agency provides information on the performance of each school and district in the state through the Texas Academic Performance Report, or TAPR. The majority of the data comes from the 2024-25 school year, Akins said. MISD exceeded the state and region on STAAR performance at every grade level in every content area, according to district documents.

“We saw an overall growth of four points on our district ratings, and our campuses grew as well,” Akins said. “I also remind the board that 75% of our students attend an A-rated campus.”
