Leander City Council approves special use permit for The 75 Oaks

After dozens of residents spoke in support of The 75 Oaks, Leander City Council members unanimously voted to approve a special use permit for the family farm Oct. 15.

The overview: The permit allows the farm to continue farm sales and educational workshops for the next decade. The farm store drew city attention in September 2025 when a code inspection found it lacked a certificate of occupancy.

The 75 Oaks is currently zoned as a single-family urban or manufactured home, but it keeps goats and sheep on a 2.39-acre parcel instead of the required three acres.

The outlook: With the special use permit, the farm can continue operating without making alterations. The 75 Oaks offers a variety of services and products, including:

  • Pasture-raised eggs, plants, dairy and other farm products

  • Educational programming for toddlers, school-aged children and adults

  • Leander's only native plant nursery recognized by the Native Plant Society of Texas
