20 Austin-area restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day 2025

Those looking for an Austin restaurant to dine at this Thanksgiving have several options. Some restaurants require reservations and others accept walk-ins.

Community members can stop by the restaurant for lunch or dinner and taste traditional Thanksgiving meals, including roasted turkey. Entrees can be paired with seasonal sides and housemade desserts.

Boutique hotel Bohème coming to East Austin in summer 2026

East Austin will soon welcome Bohème, a boutique hotel reimagined from its past as a sustainable apartment building.

What to know: The new lodging space is expected to pay homage to Austin’s soul and heritage, as stated in a news release. With 20 unique rooms, guests will have the opportunity to have an individualized experience combined with the city’s culture and history.

The space will offer 14 standard rooms and six signature suites including options like The Den, a warm suite inspired by Austin’s music scene green rooms, and The Pearl, a suite depicting Janis Joplin’s spirit with vibrant colors and texture.

The Sobering Center in Austin announces launch of second floor, expanding capacity

The Sobering Center has increased its capacity with the opening of a second floor for community members to recover from intoxication.

What’s changed: With the new renovations, the center has expanded with 14 additional beds for clients awaiting treatment placement, which doubles its overall capacity. The upgrades also included new client spaces on the second floor. As a result of the improvements, the center’s clinical team is able to efficiently coordinate treatment services and discharge planning, as stated in a news release.

“The completion of the second floor represents a step forward in our mission to provide safe, supportive care for those using substances,” CEO Laura Elmore LeBlanc said. “The center continues to evolve to meet community needs and is committed to ensuring there is a place for people to wait on treatment beds to become available.”

The milestone will be celebrated at Electric Gravy on Dec. 2 with a brief documentary depicting the mission of the center. Awards will be presented to community members who helped support expansion efforts.

48-story Paseo brings residences, hotel, drinks and dining to Austin's Rainey Street district

The 48-story mixed-use Paseo tower is now open on Rainey Street, Austin-based LV Collective announced Nov. 20.

The details: Paseo includes 498 apartments, four penthouse units and a 59-room hotel in addition to the Daydreamer cafe and Amaya restaurant and bar opening in December.

Quote of note: “The delivery of Paseo represents more than the completion of a building – it's the realization of a vision for what experiential living on Rainey Street can be,” LV CEO David Kanne said in a statement.

What's next: Following Paseo's completion this fall, new bar and restaurant concepts will be opening near the high-rise in the near future. A former bungalow bar located on the project site was relocated prior to development, it and another historic building just south of the tower will house those spaces.
