The Harris County Emergency Service District No. 9 board of commissioners unanimously called for a Nov. 3 election during the July 30 regular meeting, with Commissioner Rob Paiva absent for the vote.

Harris County ESD 9 serves as a political subdivision and taxing entity that supports fire suppression and emergency medical service operations for Cy-Fair Fire Department.

At a glance: Three of the five seats on the dais will be up for election in November, with Commissioners Paiva, Naressa MacKinnon and Cameron Dickey’s terms nearing their ends, as previously reported by Community Impact.

Per Chapter 775 of Texas Health and Safety Code, elected commissioners will serve for four years. Unlike school boards and city councils, ESD elections are not based on specific places or positions, but are administered as a singular list with voters selecting their top three candidates.

Looking forward: The board of commissioners are slated to meet Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the District Administration Building located at 10710 Telge Road, Cypress, for a regular meeting.

Katy based pelvic floor physical therapy practice West Pelvic Wellness opened a new location in Cypress off Huffmeister Road on July 20, officials confirmed.

What they offer: Owned by Dr. Alyssa Easley, West Pelvic Wellness is a product of her desire to balance helping people address their pelvic health needs while meeting the needs of her family, according to the website.

Treating women, men and adolescents West Pelvic Wellness' services include in-office, virtual or concierge pelvic health physical therapy, treatment packages and nutrition services, per the website. Officials confirmed services at the new location will be the same as those in Katy. Treatment packages include:

• Prenatal and postpartum basics, or advanced

• Restore after cesarean section

• Painful bladder program

A grand opening celebration will be held July 31 from 4-7 p.m. for the new Cypress location, officials confirmed.

Woodforest National Bank announced the appointment of Julie V. Mayrant as president and CEO as of July 15, via a news release.

Headquartered in The Woodlands, Woodforest has locations throughout the Greater Houston area and in the eastern and southern United States as well as several areas in the Midwest.

The backstory: Mayrant previously served as president and chief community banking officer, a role that oversees the bank's retail division. According to the news release, she has strengthened the bank's relationship-based approach to banking as well as worked to expand access to financial services.

Her start with the bank began with its first in-store branch in Conroe, according to the release.

Woodforest now has more than 740 branches in 17 states.

Walmart on July 23 announced a multiyear workforce development grant in Houston aimed at helping workers in several communities prepare for higher-quality career opportunities over the next five years, according to a news release.

Walmart and Walmart Foundation announced an initial $250,000 grant to the Greater Houston Partnership to expand the workforce priorities of the Houston Economic Mobility Coalition, while United Way of Houston, Houston City College and San Jacinto College will also be partners in the effort, according to the release.

Another detail: The announcement was made at the Walmart location at 3040 College Park Drive, Conroe, which is also the location of the Walmart Academy in the area, officials said. The grant coincides with the 10th anniversary of Walmart Academy, a private training program that has seen over 4 million training completions since 2016, according to the news release.
