7 Brew to open new location in Spring

According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation listing, there are plans to build a new 7 Brew location on Sawdust Road.

The details: Per the listing, construction on the 510-square-foot drive-thru coffee shop will begin on Oct. 1 with plans to be completed by Jan. 1. With over 700 locations nationwide, 7 Brew offers several iced coffee combinations, energy drinks, sodas, lemonades, smoothies and shakes.

Montgomery County commissioners discuss fire and safety updates, proposed jail site

Montgomery County officials learned a federal grant will be available to help cover costs from the Pauline Road Fire, which affected 2,360 acres in the county in March 2025.

During the July 23 Montgomery County Commissioners Court meeting, Jason Millsaps, executive director for the county’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said a fire management assistance grant, or FMAG, for $40,379 approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in March was in the process of being finalized.

Another detail: Millsaps also shared a plan for mobile emergency response barriers to better implement traffic safety measures.

What else: Continuing an ongoing Commissioners Court discussion regarding the location for a new jail, Doolittle proposed the building of a new jail facility by the current jail on 41 acres by the Montgomery County Mental Health Facility located at 700 Hilbig Road.

Magnolia, Brookshire among HAR’s Q2 list of Houston’s hottest communities

Greater Houston suburban areas such as Magnolia, Brookshire and La Marque are trending in home sale growth, according to the Houston Association of Realtors' latest Hottest Communities report for the second quarter of 2026.

Breaking it down: Construction of new homes was a significant factor for the growth of many of the top 10 communities, per the report. Additionally, six of the top 10 communities had an average home price below the Houston-area average of $455,159.

The list is led by the Magnolia/1488 West area, which saw a 61.6% increase in sales compared to 2025. Meanwhile, the Huffman area, east of Atascocita, had a 58.2% increase, while Conroe Southwest saw a 38% gain.

What they’re saying: “The communities seeing the most growth right now are the ones where buyers have choices,” HAR Chair Theresa Hill said. “New construction is expanding options and helping more buyers find homes that align with their needs and budget.”
