3 new development updates after Plano's Planning and Zoning meeting

Plano’s planning and zoning commission approved new site plans July 20 for various developments to make additional space in the city for new businesses.

Two-minute impact: Plano officials approved new warehouse and office space near Plano Parkway and Custer Road.

Also of note: A development for general administrative offices, retail and restaurant space was approved on the east side of Chase Oaks Boulevard near Legacy Drive.

One more thing: Just over 4 acres near SH 190 and Texas Drive were approved for general administrative office space.

Houston-based Wingbay to open location on Plano, Richardson border

Houston-based chicken wing chain Wingbay is opening a location on Renner Road in Plano, across the street from Methodist Richardson Hospital.

The specifics: The restaurant serves classic or boneless wings with a variety of sauces. Also featured on the menu are chicken tenders, fries and cajun fried corn.

The restaurant currently has seven locations in the Houston area and Wingbay Head of Franchising Development Sage Delsol said expanding into Dallas-Fort Worth is the “natural next step.”

American Express to expand Centurion Lounge at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

American Express will expand its Centurion Lounge at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

The $35 million project, according to a state filing, will expand and renovate the lounge into a neighboring space near Gate D12 at Terminal D at DFW Airport.

The details: The expansion will make the lounge nearly 50% larger, adding more seating, a new dining area, a walk-up ice cream window and a second full-service bar, according to a news release.

The expected opening will be in 2027, according to a news release. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings show an estimated completion date for the 18,000-square-foot project of Nov. 19, 2027.

“American Express has long been at the forefront of the airport lounge experience, and we continue to build on that legacy and raise the bar as we grow our network,” said Audrey Hendley, American Express Travel president.

Check out five upcoming, ongoing and completed transportation projects around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

1. Pershing Drive utilities and roadway replacement
Project: Pershing Drive in Denton is receiving new water and wastewater lines, new roadway and portions of the sidewalk are being replaced. Denton voters approved the project as part of the Neighborhood 1B bond package.
Update: Crews are working to replace the driveway, curb and gutter with final paving to follow.

  • Timeline: August 2025-August 2026
  • Cost: $1.36 million
  • Funding source: city of Denton

2. US 380 and Community Avenue intersection improvements
Project: Intersection improvements at US 380 and Community Avenue in McKinney will include eastbound and westbound dual left turns, a southbound right turn lane, and traffic signal improvements.
Update: Waterline and sanitary sewer adjustments are nearly complete. Street paving is expected to begin within the next one to two months. Traffic impacts are expected while work is ongoing.

  • Cost: $5.6 million
  • Funding source: city of McKinney, Texas Department of Transportation
