Toasted Walnut offers "craveable" menu in Celina
Toasted Walnut Table and Market owners Audria Weimer and Amy Hegar said they want the restaurant to offer a welcoming environment to anyone who visits. Weimer said the staff at Toasted Walnut “love to serve” and her hope is that customers have an elevated dining experience when they come into the restaurant.

La Finca serves Mexican cuisine, locally roasted coffee in Prosper
The food and bakery menu features authentic Mexican cuisine not Tex-Mex. Owner Lee Gonzales said the top selling breakfast item is chilaquiles, which they make with house-made sauteed corn tortilla chips, red or green sauce, purple onions, crema and a protein choice of egg or chicken.

4 updates from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport to celebrate the first flight from the southeast Missouri town to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

Contour Airlines started flights to and from DFW Airport, out of Terminal D, on Dec. 1. The airline connects DFW to several smaller regional airports through the Essential Air Service program, according to a news release.

Zooming in: Frontier Airlines launched two international flights in December from DFW Airport.

Weekly flights to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, Guatemala, started Dec. 20.

Two-times-a-week service from DFW Airport to El Salvador International Airport in San Salvador, El Salvador, took off Dec. 21, according to previous reporting. 

A closer look: The Transportation Security Administration announced Dec. 1 that all passengers who do not present an acceptable form of ID and still want to fly will have the option to pay a $45 fee to use TSA ConfirmID.

1. Texas Senate passes bill that would nearly double property tax exemption for seniors, people with disabilities: Elderly and disabled homeowners were set to receive a $200,000 property tax exemption this year.

2. Texas House bill would make it easier to remove students from the classroom: The law gives teachers more discretion to remove students from the classroom if they are repeatedly disruptive or threaten the safety of others.

3. What to know about the 17 state propositions on the Nov. 4 ballot: Nearly 3 million Texans voted in the November election, approving all 17 constitutional amendments.

4. Texas House bill would prohibit cellphone use in K-12 schools: Under House Bill 1481, cellphones and other personal communication devices are prohibited bell-to-bell in Texas public schools.

5. Texas families can now access 2022-23 A-F school accountability ratings after multiyear legal battle: The state later released ratings for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years in August.
