155-acre housing development in the works near The Guadalupe River

The Bluffs on the Guadalupe, a 155-acre gated housing community, is in the works after PulteGroup purchased the property at 11529 FM 306 in November 2025.

What we know: Pulte Homes plans to offer 53 1-acre or larger homesites, each with various amenities that highlight the community’s riverfront setting. With direct access to the Guadalupe River, residents will be able to enjoy scenic walking trails and a lounge-style pool overlooking the river, Cherri Kuhns, marketing manager for PulteGroup's San Antonio Division, said in an email to Community Impact.

The Bluffs on the Guadalupe will also feature a covered pergola with bar seating and an outdoor fire pit.

Looking ahead: The community is anticipated to open late in the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter of 2026, the email states.

New Braunfels ISD names new principal for Oak Run Middle School

New Braunfels ISD has selected Stephanie McClain as the next principal of Oak Run Middle School, according to a news release.

McClain will replace retiring principal Jessica White, the release states.

The background: McClain most recently served as associate principal at New Braunfels High School, a role she held since July 2022. During her tenure, she helped increase college, career and military readiness rates and improved the campus’s accountability rating, according to the release.

Before joining NBISD, she served as assistant principal and academic dean at Memorial Early College High School in Comal ISD, the release states.

What they're saying: District leadership said McClain will bring a wealth of experience that will help to guide the school in the right direction.

"Stephanie McClain is an exceptional leader who brings experience, vision and a deep commitment to students, staff and families," NBISD Superintendent Laurelyn Arterbury said in the release.

'Hard decisions': Judson ISD closes 4 schools amid $37M budget shortfall

The Judson ISD board of trustees will close four schools beginning in the 2026-27 school year, to chip away $7 million, or 19%, of its $37 million budget shortfall in fiscal year 2025-26. The decision will send 1,817 enrolled students to other campuses.

Some details: The board approved the closure of Judson Middle School during a Feb. 16 special meeting, which will yield the district an estimated average annual savings of $2.5 million. Trustees approved the closure of Rolling Meadows Elementary, Park Village Blended Learning Academy and Franz Leadership Academy at another special meeting Feb. 24. Each elementary school will yield JISD an estimated average annual savings of $1.5 million, for a total of $4.5 million, according to a campus consolidation packet.

The district administration chose the schools based on current enrollment, future enrollment trends, utilization, proximity to feeder schools and capacity of feeder schools.

Interim Superintendent Robert Jaklich said school closures are an issue for other districts in San Antonio and across the state.

Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization requests public input for FY 2027-2030 projects

The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization invites the public to attend a series of public meetings to review and comment on the draft fiscal year 2027-2030 Transportation Improvement Program. According to a March 17 news release, this draft outlines transportation projects and programs totaling more than $1.9 billion, scheduled to move into construction or implementation over the next four years.

The details: A total of six meetings are scheduled in different regions of the Greater San Antonio area. Planned meetings include:

  • Bexar County (Northeast): March 18; Northeast Senior Center, 4135 Thousand Oaks Drive, San Antonio
  • Comal County: March 19; New Braunfels City Hall, Tejas Room, 550 Landa St., New Braunfels
  • Guadalupe County: March 23; Seguin Public Library, 313 West Nolte St., Seguin
  • Bexar County (Southwest): March 24; Boeing Center at Tech Port, 3331 General Hudnell Drive, San Antonio
  • Medina County: March 26; Castroville Elementary, 1000 Madrid St., Castroville
  • Kendall County: March 30; Patrick Heath Public Library, 451 N. Main St., Boerne
