Dripping Springs ISD officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for High School No. 2 on April 13 near Cypress Springs Elementary School.
The big picture: The district has been planning for a second high school for several years as a response to growing enrollment. According to a demographic presentation by Population and Survey Analysts, DSISD added over 1,500 students in the past five years and over 3,000 students in the past 10 years. There are currently approximately 8,800 students enrolled in DSISD, according to the report.
The new campus will have the capacity to serve 2,500 students and is the largest construction project in the district’s history, according to Superintendent Holly Morris-Kuentz.
How it’s funded: Construction for High School No. 2 was funded by Prop A of a 2025 voter-approved bond. The design was funded by a 2023 voter-approved bond.
Prop A allocated $298,783,000 towards the construction of the new high school.
