Bahler Street now serving wood-fired sourdough pizzas near Georgetown, Round Rock border

Bahler Street opened its brick-and-mortar location off Westinghouse Road in early November in conjunction with Barking Armadillo Social.

About the business: The eatery's menu features a number of wood-fired sourdough pizzas as well as make-your-own options, salad and wings.

What's special about it?: Co-owner Frank Riggle said the business partners with other Central Texas companies to offer unique collaborations, including working with Rossler’s Blue Cord Barbecue and Still Austin Whiskey Co. to create wing sauces.

Additionally, Riggle said the restaurant offers a rotating menu of seasonal pizzas.

One more thing: Bahler Street also has a wood-fired pizza truck available for catering and events.

1. Pegatron to start construction on HQ following incentives
Pegatron Corporation, a Taiwan-based electronics manufacturing company, plans to begin construction on its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Georgetown by March, according to Williamson County documents.
Located in Blue Springs Business Park, Pegatron plans to renovate the shell space for its manufacturing and assembly operations, according to Georgetown documents.

2. City raises library fees for nonresidents
The annual library fee for those residing outside city limits rose from $35 to $100 beginning Jan. 1. For senior nonresidents, the fee increased from $30 to $80. Users will be charged the new fee at the time of their library card renewal.

3. WilCo officials seek public safety grant for water rescue boat
The $35,519 grant would cover the full cost of the inflatable boat, accessories and the trailer for the swift water rescue team to use during flash flood emergencies, according to county documents.

TSTC Williamson County wins $3.5M grant to train semiconductor technicians

Texas State Technical College is receiving a $3.5 million state grant to train future semiconductor technicians at its East Williamson County campus in Hutto.

The details: TSTC will use the grant to develop the Accelerated Semiconductor Technician Training Program, Gov. Greg Abbott announced Jan. 8. The college will use existing instructional and lab facilities for the new program.

The 10-week program will train students for careers in semiconductor fabrication, including roles as equipment technicians, process technicians and gas control system specialists, according to a Jan. 8 news release.

The background: The grant money comes from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund, a state program launched in 2023 to promote economic and workforce development in semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing.

“This investment will equip students with the advanced skills needed for a modern, high-tech workforce, create quality jobs for Texans, and support the semiconductor operations and chip production that drive our economy and are vital to our national security,” Rep. Caroline Harris Davila, R-Round Rock, said in the release.
