As NISD prepares to welcome a third cohort for the Leadership Northside program, the NISD board of trustees received a briefing on the program and the nomination process during its Nov. 11 meeting.

The gist: Nicole Franco, NISD director of Leadership Development, said the goal of the program is to immerse participants in the life of the district, inform them about key issues, and prepare them to be effective advocates and ambassadors for NISD.

During the presentation, Franco said board members and the superintendent could originally nominate five individuals for the program, but during the discussion afterward, the board raised the number of nominees to eight.

For nominations, priority will be given to individuals within each board members’ district, but nominations will also be allowed for individuals outside the district who have strong ties to NISD.

Stay tuned: The deadline for nominations is Dec. 5.

A new sports bar and grill has opened its doors in Stone Oak.

At a glance: The Roxbury held an official soft opening on Oct. 15 at 19141 Stone Oak Parkway, Ste. 206, according to a Facebook post from the business.

Featuring large TV screens, games, themed activities, live music and more, the new sports bar is the brainchild of Owner Erik Duron.

He also operates a speakeasy called The Hush Room, also situated in Stone Oak, according to his Facebook page.

On the menu: The Roxbury serves up meals from brunch to late-night snacks.

According to the menu, there’s chicken and waffles for brunch, specialty sandwiches and burgers for lunch and Bubba’s chicken tenders for dinner.

For drinks, the sports bar mixes up traditional cocktails and has a selection of draft beers, wines and more.

Technos Inc., a Schertz-based industrial fan manufacturer and repair service, celebrated its 45th anniversary in 2025, company staff told Community Impact.

A closer look: Technos Inc. specializes in industrial fans and ventilation systems. The company provides repairs and maintenance for businesses across the region, according to the company's website.

Service options include preventative maintenance and testing, along with shutdown services. The business also refurbishes older fan systems to be repurposed for future usage. There is also a 24-hour emergency on-call field response service for malfunctioning fans or ventilation systems, according to the company's website.
