Prosper council greenlights $3.6 million addition for upcoming public works building

Prosper officials are moving forward with plans to add a shop facility to the town’s Public Works and Parks Service Center, which is currently under construction.

What's new: The estimated price tag for the shop facility was reduced from over $7 million to $3.6 million following a redesign to identify savings, according to town documents.

The catalyst: Officials reduced the scope of the public works building and re-examined plans for the shop facility after a bond proposition to fund the project failed last November.

Quote of note: “There are a lot of components that aren’t being built right now because we are cash funding this project,” Mayor Pro Tem Amy Bartley said. “I want to make sure the public understands that we have heard what they said about the bond, and we are funding it as we go with cash.”
