Candidates set for League City November elections

League City voters have several races and candidates to consider for the Nov. 3 election.

Digging deeper: Candidate filing for positions 1, 2, 6, 7 and mayor closed Aug. 17. Filing for position 3 is open until Aug. 20.

Looking ahead: The election will take place Nov. 3 with early voting running from Oct. 19-30, according to the city’s website.

In case you missed it: During the November election, voters can also weigh in on whether the League City Police Department should continue to use Flock Safety automated license plate reader cameras, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake opens new clinic in Webster

HCA Clear Lake recently celebrated the opening of new family medicine clinic in Webster, said Erika Hayes, director of community engagement for HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake. 

Who it’s for: HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake Medical Group physicians and residents will staff the clinic, according to an Aug. 17 news release from the hospital. The clinic will offer preventive care, routine health screenings, management of chronic conditions and treatment of common illnesses.

Live updates: ERCOT will complete data center audit in late 2026, officials say

The Texas House State Affairs Committee heard from power grid officials; data center developers and industry representatives; local government officials; cybersecurity experts; and utility companies during an Aug. 19 hearing on the growth of data centers in the state. Dozens of Texas residents also testified about the impact of data centers in their communities.

The details: Pablo Vegas, CEO of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, said it will take the grid operator several months to audit about 200 gigawatts of data center proposals. ERCOT will request information from all large and medium-sized data centers that are expected to use at least 25 megawatts of electricity.

ERCOT and the Public Utility Commission were ordered on Aug. 3 to audit all data centers seeking to connect to Texas’ power grid. They anticipate completing that audit in late November or early December, Vegas said.
