San Antonio seeks service enhancement through Code Enforcement Strategic Plan

On March 5, the San Antonio City Council approved the Code Enforcement Strategic Plan, which is designed to address high levels of community dissatisfaction and increased service demand.

The big picture: According to city documents, the Department of Development Services created the strategic plan in response to a council consideration request, or CCR, submitted by former District 4 council member Adriana Rocha Garcia on July 27, 2023. The CCR was prompted in part by the increased service demands seen in the 2023 Budget Priorities Survey, which showed 50% of respondents felt their needs were partly met or not met at all.

The strategic plan seeks to provide improved communication systems, clear and effective educational materials, balanced proactive and reactive enforcement, stronger vacant lot enforcement and expanded hardship referral support.

Though the approval of the strategic plan has no immediate fiscal impact, the implementation is expected to have several impacts on city resources and services, including a potential staff enhancement proposal as part of the fiscal year 2026-27 budget development process.

Two home decor showrooms to open at La Cantera Heights this summer

LAVISH Kitchen + Bath and California Closets of the Texas Hill Country are opening in La Cantera Heights in North San Antonio this summer.

The details: The two complementary showrooms will offer shoppers custom spaces designed with beauty, functionality and sustainability. Using the brand’s mise en place, or everything in its place, design, each piece ensures functionality as well as style, according to a news release.

Both showrooms measure 2,000 square feet, and customers can tour them before beginning the design process. Every purchase begins with a complimentary consultation with the company’s designers. Once the consultation is completed, craftsmen fabricate the space, and the team coordinates the installation to make it as seamless an experience as possible, according to the release.
