Cooper’s Kingdom offers a medieval miniature golf escape in Boerne

While many mini golf courses feature eclectic, creative themes, Candice Cooper said hers is far more unique and immersive than the rest.

Taking inspiration from Harry Potter characters and the atmosphere of medieval times, husband-and-wife duo Scott and Candice Cooper officially opened Cooper’s Kingdom in November 2024.

How we got here: Candice Cooper said she felt obligated to open a family entertainment business due to the lack of diverse options in the southern Hill Country area, between Kerrville and Boerne.

What are the options? Cooper’s Kingdom contains both an immersive miniature golf course and a two-story arcade, Cooper said.

The golf course features 18 holes across six themed rooms. Each room contains three holes along with 3D paintings, animatronics, smoke machines, sound effects and more.

Looking ahead: In the future, Candice Cooper said she is open to expansion and opening a new location somewhere in the region.

New coffee shop, market now open on Main Street in Boerne

A new, locally-owned eatery and coffee shop has opened on the Hill Country Mile in downtown Boerne.

In case you missed it: The new spot is called Selah Café Coffee + Market, and it’s situated at 616 N. Main St. just north of downtown Boerne.

Owners Aubrey and Stephen Gimenez said the business opened for a public soft opening phase on March 9, and offers a New York-style coffee shop experience to customers.

On the menu: Currently, the menu at the cafe has bagels, sandwiches and specials from local bakeries in the Hill Country region.

“We are going to have award winning New York style bagels available for sandwiches or with good ole schmear, as well as weekly specials from local micro bakers,” Gimenez said.

For drinks, Selah Café will be serving a traditional espresso menu, featuring house made syrups and flavors.

“Our house special will be a maple vanilla latte, with real vanilla bean,” Gimenez said.

Tech-focused ice cream truck to launch in San Antonio March 14

A new spot to beat the heat in Stone Oak and across North San Antonio is launching soon, just in time for the summer.

What’s happening: Alsies ice cream is launching a new truck that will serve northern portions of San Antonio beginning March 14, according to a news release.

It’s led by local owners Milton Miranda and Manelys Acosta.

Miranda said in the news release that they had discussed franchising with the company for “some time.”

"We’ve always wanted to build something together outside of medicine,” Miranda said. “Our careers have been focused on serving others, but Alsies felt like an opportunity to create something of our own that also brings joy to families.”

Craving ice cream? Customers can locate an Alsies truck by using their app, according to the business’s website. It will display a truck's location in real time.
