Judson ISD opens two new campuses for 2025-26 school year

Students at Judson ISD returned to school on Aug. 13, including those attending two new district campuses.

Judson ISD has officially opened both Selma Elementary School, located at 16842 Retama Parkway in Selma, and Cibolo Creek Middle School, situated at 5735 Waldon Walk in San Antonio.

In a nutshell: Both campuses are funded by the district’s 2022 bond and were completed over the summer, according to Judson ISD board of trustees agenda documents.

Selma Elementary’s project cost is estimated at $48.38 million, while Cibolo Creek's cost is estimated at $80.32 million, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

Selma Elementary students are relocating from the former Coronado Village Elementary School, district communications staff told Community Impact, along with students shifted in the redistricting process.

$1.9M road project almost complete in Cibolo

Major roadwork on Cibolo's Deer Creek Boulevard is nearing completion.

What you need to know: During Cibolo City Council's Sept. 9 meeting, City Manager Wayne Reed said that the $1.9 million project on Deer Creek Boulevard, between Cibolo Valley Drive and Cordero Drive, is estimated to be completed Oct. 27. The project began May 12 and is still on track to be completed on its original timeline, Reed said. 

According to the Cibolo Capital Improvements webpage, the reconstruction will add over 24 inches of new stabilized material, roadway surface and new pavement markings. Reed said "flatwork" such as curb and gutter improvements will be completed within the next two weeks, followed by several weeks of roadwork.

The project is part of Cibolo's fiscal year 2025 Capital Improvements Program, according to agenda documents.

New Acura dealer set to break ground near San Antonio

A new car dealership is on its way into the Live Oak area, just outside San Antonio.

What you need to know: Team Gillman Automotive, a Houston-based dealership group, is planning to open a new Acura dealership serving the Alamo City.

Loma Architecture, the designers of the new showroom, said that a timeline is still unknown for when the project will begin.

The architecture company primarily designs automotive retail spaces, according to their website.

The planned property is located just off of Loop 1604 at 14350 Lookout Road with a sign indicating that the showroom is coming soon.

Zooming in: Team Gillman Automotive sells new and used vehicles across most makes and models, with showrooms across Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley.

According to their website, they have three showrooms off of I-35 in Selma, which are Honda, Subaru and Mitsubishi dealerships.

Methodist Hospital Northeast appoints new chief financial officer

Methodist Hospital Northeast added to its leadership team in September.

What you need to know: Rogelio Reyes has been appointed chief financial officer of the Live Oak hospital, according to a Sept. 11 news release.

Reyes has more than 23 years of health care finance experience, including serving as CFO for St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital in San Antonio and Laredo Medical Center. He was also previously the controller for Methodist Hospital Atascosa within the Methodist Healthcare system, the release states.

The appointment comes after former CFO David Heckman moved into the same role at Methodist Hospital Metropolitan in August, according to previous reporting by Community Impact

Quote of note: Methodist Hospital Northeast CEO Jerrica George said they were excited to welcome Reyes as the new CFO.

"His strong financial leadership and extensive healthcare experience will be a great asset to our hospital and the communities we serve,” George said in the release.
