Leander, Liberty Hill road projects to watch this summer

With summer in full swing, several construction projects continue to make way near Leander and Liberty Hill. Whether you're preparing for a road trip or your regular commute, here are 10 projects to keep in mind while planning your drive.

Upcoming projects

CR 201 reconstruction
Project
: Road improvements include the reconstruction of CR 201 from CR 200 to Umbrella Sky, including shoulders and turn lane improvements.

Ongoing projects

Legacy Ranch Drive expansion
Project
: Crews are working to expand approximately 0.6 miles from Seward Junction North Loop, also known as CR 258 and CR 260, to a CR 258 extension east of US 183, including new signals, pavement improvements, and turn lanes serving a future Liberty Hill ISD site.

RM 2243, Hero Way controlled-access highway
Project
: A substantial reconstruction and widening of RM 2243 and Hero Way is underway, which will see the two-lane roadway divided into a controlled-access highway from 183A Toll to Southwest Bypass, including frontage roads in both directions.

Liberty Hill Pool Service store now open

For homeowners looking to keep their pools clean and clear this summer, Liberty Hill Pool Service has opened a new local supply store in the District 29 complex.

The details: The store sells chemicals and equipment for pool maintenance and upkeep.

The company, which is owned by Liberty Hill locals Jason and Renee Drosche, also offers “top-tier” weekly or monthly service, equipment repair, filter cleaning and other services, according to the company’s website.

What’s next: The store will host a ribbon cutting July 9 and a grand opening July 11, Renee Drosche said.

$131M in CAMPO grants to fund WilCo road projects

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization dedicated about $131 million in federal funding for nine road projects and one trail project in Williamson County, according to a June 12 county news release.

Projects include the construction of an overpass at the intersection of Chandler Road and FM 1660 in Hutto, as well as widening Red Bud Lane from two to five lanes from Gattis School Road to Heatherwilde Boulevard in Round Rock.

What they’re saying: “I am grateful the CAMPO board sees the need in our fast-growing county for continued improvements to our transportation system, and I congratulate [Precinct 2] Commissioner [Cynthia] Long for securing this federal funding through CAMPO for Williamson County,” Williamson County Judge Steve Snell said in the release.

How it works: CAMPO selected projects to receive funding from the 2028-31 open call for projects. The evaluation process includes independent reviewers weighing risk assessment, project readiness and the cost-benefit analysis, according to the release.
