The Keller Depot event space could be ready for lease by end of 2026

Entrepreneur Ashley Stone Hernandez held the first Nights on Bates in Old Town Keller on Sept. 25. The event included music, food and local vendors and provided a glimpse of The Keller Depot.

That is the latest project by Hernandez, who also owns 139 Olive, an event center in Keller. She purchased properties at 128 Bates St. and 136 Bates St. with plans to renovate both structures.

The details: The locations were previously the Keller Station House & History Museum and Catherine Anne’s Books, though each has been vacant for more than three years, Hernandez said.

She hopes to use one of the buildings for a coffee shop concept and the other would become a destination for a dessert business.

What’s next: Hernandez said she will do landscaping on both properties and replace the grass in the backyards with turf to mirror what she has at 139 Olive. She envisions the back properties will have a connection point to the event center.

Jimmy’s Burgers and Pizza opens new location

Jimmy’s Burgers and Pizza, a fast casual spot that has menu items like crab rangoon pizza, served its first customers at its Golden Triangle Boulevard location at the end of September, owner Kris Copp said.

The details: The success at the restaurant’s first location in Hurst ultimately prompted Copp to open the new location.

Jimmy’s Burgers and Pizza is not Copp’s first foray into the restaurant business. He opened Copps Pizza Company, a sit-down bar and grill serving pizza, wings and burgers, in Nebraska before moving to Texas. Copp calls it “the American meal.”

“Unless you’re going to add in tacos, there’s not much that beats wings pizza and burgers,” Copp said. “We were doing them at the bar and grill, and I was like, ‘Why can’t we make this a fast food concept?’”
