Cy-Fair ISD maintains ‘A’ 2024-25 state financial accountability rating

Cy-Fair ISD has maintained its 'A' state financial accountability rating for the 24th consecutive year, Amanda Boles, assistant superintendent of business and financial services, said. The Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) evaluates school districts on their financial management practices, decisions and instructional allocations.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) uses 21 indicators to determine these scores. For the 2024-25 school year, Cy-Fair ISD received maximum points on 19 out of the 20 scored indicators. The indicators are divided into three categories:

  • Critical: four indicators where incompletion results in immediate failure

  • Solvency: 10 indicators, though the administrative cost ratio was not scored for 2024-25

  • Financial competency: seven indicators

Additionally, Jae Simpson-Butler, director of student services, reported that the district's cumulative attendance rate reached 93.56%. This 0.43 percentage point increase from the prior school year boosted district revenue by $3 million to $4 million.
