Randy G's Homemade Ice Cream to celebrate 5 years in Schertz

A locally-owned ice cream parlor in Northeast San Antonio is celebrating its 5th year serving customers in the area.

Taking a step back: Randy G’s Homemade Ice Cream—located at 1420 Schertz Parkway, Ste. 240—will be celebrating its 5-year anniversary in September.

The business is owned by local duo Randy and Trisha Gentry, who first opened the ice cream parlor in 2021, according to previous reporting from Community Impact.

“Man does time fly when you're having fun. It's been so great meeting so many of you and being part of your lives and community here,” Randy Gentry said in a Jan. 1 Facebook post.

What they offer: Randy G’s Homemade Ice Cream serves handmade, specialty ice cream in various flavors, including Double Chocolate, Java Chip, Lil’ Blue Panda and more. The ice cream shop also opened Energy Island Healthy Tea and Shake Shop inside the business in November, as previously reported by Community Impact.

Smokey Mo's BBQ to open within Schertz Station development

A new barbecue restaurant will be opening this year in Schertz.

What we know: Smokey Mo's BBQ is anticipated to open within the Schertz Station development in early April, Smokey Mo's President Craig Haley said in an email to Community Impact.

"The store will be open in early April if everything goes according to schedule," Haley said.

What they offer: Smokey Mo's BBQ sells barbecue plates, sandwiches and wraps. The restaurant also sells brisket, pork belly burnt ends, turkey and sausage by the half pound. Smokey Mo's BBQ also serves an assortment of sides, including pinto beans, potato salad, green beans and more.
