Richardson Public Library will close on Oct. 11 ahead of its move back to the newly renovated library building.

The overview: The closure will allow time for staff to move library materials, equipment and services from the temporary location back to the renovated library. The renovated library is expected to open later this fall, according to a news release from the city.

What you need to know: Digital library resources will remain available after the temporary facility closes, but most in-person programs and services will be paused until the renovated building opens.

Pilates studio inLIFE Wellness is set to open on the Richardson border Oct. 17, according to a social media announcement.

The details: The pilates studio initially announced a September opening. According to its website, inLIFE offers a blend of reformer Pilates, barre and dynamic strength classes, including infrared and red light Pilates and fusion classes.

1. Light rail vehicle replacements

Project: Dallas Area Rapid Transit agency received a $70 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration, according to a news release from the agency. DART said it will use the $70 million grant to replace 53 light rail vehicles that were originally purchased over 30 years ago.

Update: DART has already begun the procurement process to purchase the new vehicles, but the agency has not announced a timeline for delivery.

2. CPKC Railroad Crossing improvements

Project: The city of Plano is replacing existing railroad crossings at Los Rios Boulevard and Plano Parkway. The project will also add sidewalk for some of the city’s gaps in the current sidewalk system.
