Bastrop-Cedar Creek home sales increase, prices dip in May

May housing figures for Bastrop-Cedar Creek show a longer wait for sellers, even as the median sales price fell, according to Unlock MLS data.

What changed? Across ZIP codes 78602 and 78612, 77 homes sold in May, up from 60 during the same month in 2025.

By the numbers: The median sales price dipped from $384,000 to $369,990, while average days on market increased from 72 to 85.

What else? Most homes sold in May were priced between $300,000 and $499,999, according to Unlock MLS data.

Yoli’s Tacos y Más brings family food legacy back to Bastrop

Yoli’s Tacos y Mas is serving Tex-Mex dishes in Bastrop with a mission rooted in family legacy: carrying on Yolanda “Yoli” DeLeon’s love for food, family and community, “just like she would’ve wanted,” per the restaurant's website.

Behind the name: The brick-and-mortar eatery is named in honor of DeLeon, who opened her Tex-Mex food truck on Chestnut Street in June 2014.

Following complications related to COVID-19, she died July 20, 2021, at age 55.

The DeLeon family continued the taco truck for nearly three more years, eventually closing in April 2024.

On the menu: Amadeo "Bosshogg" DeLeon III and his team continue the family’s restaurant legacy with Tex-Mex dishes, including birria tacos, brisket, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas and quesadillas.

Downtown Austin bar closes indefinitely after fire

Bar Peached, located at 1315 W. Sixth St., Austin, has closed until further notice after a fire broke out in the attic.

What happened: The fire was caused by malfunctioning kitchen equipment, according to an email newsletter from the business, and severely destroyed the building's roof early in the morning May 31. No one was inside the building when firefighters arrived, officials said.

The background: The Old West Austin restaurant, which serves Asian-Southern fusion, is operated by the team behind Peached Tortilla and Peached Social House. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and a timeline for reopening remains unclear.
