SH 26 Green Ribbon projects
Project: The fiscal year 2024-25 Green Ribbon Project allows state funds to help pay for the installation of irrigation systems and planting of shrubs, ornamental trees and ground cover along Texas roadways. City officials have approved using funds for projects along SH 26, SH 121 and FM 3029.
Update: Assistant City Manager Adrienne Lothery said a notice to proceed for the project is expected to be issued in August.

  • Timeline: Contractor has 64 days after the notice to proceed to complete work
  • Cost: more than $895,887
  • Funding sources: Texas Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, city of Colleyville

Completed projects
Lonesome Dove Road reconstruction
Project: Crews reconstructed Lonesome Dove Road between East Dove Road and Burney Lane.
Update: The reconstruction project finished June 29, which is when restriping work was completed.

Office Depot to close Grapevine store

An Office Depot storefront in Grapevine is set to close later this summer, store staff said.

What's happening: Items within the store are currently being sold at discounted prices. Store staff said further discounts will be applied weekly prior to the closing date.

What they offer: Office Depot sells a selection of office supplies, printer ink and office furniture.

Check out five upcoming, ongoing and completed transportation projects around Dallas-Fort Worth.

Upcoming projects

1. Frisco Street roundabout additions

Project: Four roundabouts will be added along Frisco Street at Technology Drive, Sports Village Road, All Stars Avenue and Research Road. The intersections will be converted from intersections to multilane roundabouts.

Update: The project is in the design phase with bidding for construction expected early next year.

  • Timeline: early 2027-2028
  • Cost: $12 million
  • Funding source: city of Frisco

2. Spring Creek Corridor Intersection Improvements

Project: New turning lanes, concrete pavement, barrier free ramp reconstruction, sidewalk replacement and signal modifications will be added along Spring Creek Parkway at Jupiter Road, Chase Oaks Drive, Ohio Drive, Preston Meadow Road and Parkwood Boulevard.

Update: The design phase is complete, said Clay Lipscomb, Plano community investment project engineering manager. Construction is estimated to start in 2027.
  • Timeline: January 2027-January 2029
  • Cost: $8 million
  • Funding source: city of Plano

 
Around Town
Check out 14 libraries around Dallas-Fort Worth that offer children's activities, programming

Area libraries throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area provided space for children and teenagers during the summer. Many offer summer reading programs and other scheduled activities for children and adults.

Allen Public Library
The library is running a summer program for all ages through July 31. The program is broken down by the following age groups: 0 to sixth grade, seventh to 12th grade and adults age 18 and up. Prizes and free books are awarded for preschoolers (ages 0 to 5), elementary school-age kids (kindergarten-sixth grade) and teens (seventh to 12th grade). Adults will be entered into a drawing for one of five prize bags.
