Plano water, waste bill increases approved at City Council

Plano City Council officially approved bill increases for water, sewer and trash services in the city at a meeting Sept. 28.

In a nutshell: The average resident is expected to see a $16 increase in their monthly utility bill starting Oct. 1, per previous reporting.

Also of note: Plano residents will also now pay a $33.40 minimum rate for the first 1,000 gallons of water service, a $2.5 increase from the previous year per city documents.

An Arizona-based restaurant, The Henry, is opening its third location at Legacy West in October.

The details: The Henry will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch with menu items like Shrimp and Crab Louis, Cheesy Truffle Popovers and its Lychee Martini, according to a news release from the business.

The background: The Henry is a Fox Restaurant Concept, a company that owns businesses like Flower Child and the Plano location will be the second Dallas-Fort Worth location.

NTMWD approves $978M fiscal year budget for 2027

The North Texas Municipal Water District’s fiscal year 2026-27 budget is increasing about 8% from the previous year, according to a news release.

The full story: NTMWD’s board of directors approved the $978 million budget during a Sept. 24 meeting. The budget allocates funding for the organization’s regional water and wastewater systems that stretch throughout North Texas.

The context: NTMWD provides wholesale water, wastewater and solid waste management services for multiple cities including Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Plano and Richardson, according to its website. The organization funds its budget through wholesale rate charges to member cities and customer cities, according to the news release.

Breaking down the budget: The FY2026-27 budget projects $978.4 million in expenditures and nearly $977.7 million in revenues, according to the budget document. Expenditures are increasing from last year’s original budget , which projected $902.4 million in expenses.

Capital investments related to increasing capacity and maintaining infrastructure are “main drivers of the rising costs,” the news release states.
