Cirrus Aircraft debuts 50,000-square-foot facility at McKinney National Airport

Cirrus Aircraft’s new facility at McKinney National Airport is the “first of its kind” for the brand, said Bobby Moorehead, director at the new location.

The specifics: An open house was hosted for the 50,000-square-foot facility in November after opening earlier this year. The facility features a flight simulation space, a retail store and more. Cirrus Aircraft officials broke ground on the new facility in 2023.

Quote of note: “Cirrus of McKinney is the first of this concept and it is a very important part of who Cirrus Aircraft is,” Moorehead said.

Medical City McKinney debuts new surgery robot called ‘Wilbur’

Medical City McKinney officials have unveiled the hospital’s newest surgical robot, named “Wilbur” by an Allen ISD 6th grade.

The gist: Medical City McKinney received the robot in December, a media spokesperson said in an email. Surgeons will use the robot to complete a variety of minimally invasive procedures, according to a news release. The new robot will assist in thoracic, general surgery, colorectal, urology and gynecology surgeries.

The context: Medical City Healthcare offers minimally invasive robotic surgeries at multiple North Texas hospitals including locations in Plano and Frisco. Advanced robotic systems allow surgeons to perform advanced surgery with "unparalleled precision," according to Medical City McKinney's website.

Dallas-based M Crowd Restaurant Group acquires Razzoo's Cajun Cafe locations across Texas

Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe has been acquired by a Dallas-based restaurant group less than three months after company officials filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. M Crowd Restaurant Group, which is the parent company of Mi Cocina and Vaqueros among other eateries, announced the acquisition of the restaurant brand Dec. 30.

“Razzoo’s has been part of the dining landscape for more than 30 years, and we believe deeply in its roots and potential,” M Crowd Restaurant Group CEO Edgar Guevara said in a news release.

The specifics: Razzoo’s was founded in Dallas in 1991 and has grown to a portfolio of 20 locations in two states. The restaurant’s menu features a variety of Louisiana-inspired Cajun and seafood dishes including fried catfish, etouffee dishes, crawfish, gumbo and more, according to its website.

Diving in deeper: While the business’s website previously listed 20 locations of Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe, the acquisition announcement noted that 11 locations will remain open. The locations remaining open include one in Concord, North Carolina, as well as 10 in Texas.

4 updates from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport to celebrate the first flight from the southeast Missouri town to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

Contour Airlines started flights to and from DFW Airport, out of Terminal D, on Dec. 1. The airline connects DFW to several smaller regional airports through the Essential Air Service program, according to a news release.

Zooming in: Frontier Airlines launched two international flights in December from DFW Airport.

Weekly flights to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, Guatemala, started Dec. 20.

Two-times-a-week service from DFW Airport to El Salvador International Airport in San Salvador, El Salvador, took off Dec. 21, according to previous reporting. 

A closer look: The Transportation Security Administration announced Dec. 1 that all passengers who do not present an acceptable form of ID and still want to fly will have the option to pay a $45 fee to use TSA ConfirmID.
