Denton ISD announced it will open a new elementary school within Landmark, an upcoming master-planned community, as part of a collaboration to coordinate schools alongside the new development.
What’s happening? The 12-acre site for the elementary school is the first of three planned DISD school sites within Landmark, a 32-acre mixed-use development, according to a news release from the district. The other two schools will be another elementary school and a middle school.
Funding from the 2023 voter-approved $1.4 billion district bond was used to acquire the land, the release states. The referendum passed by 62% for Proposition A, which covers proposed projects, and Proposition B, which covers campus technology, according to the district’s website.
Looking ahead: Students who currently live in Landmark attend Rayzor Elementary School, Harpool Middle School and Guyer High School. A date for the construction of the new schools will be determined depending on the enrollment trends and school campus capacity.
