Spoon + Fork Thai Kitchen is opening a new location in New Braunfels.

What you need to know: The restaurant will be opening at 2292 Sophie Lane in the Solms Landing development, Owner Thana Trepetch told Community Impact.

Trepetch said she is excited to bring her cuisine to New Braunfels. She said she believes that Spoon + Fork Thai Kitchen will become New Braunfels locals' new favorite dining destination.

What's on the menu: Spoon + Fork Thai Kitchen offers Thai appetizers, soups, salads, curry and entrees. The menu also has vegetarian and gluten-free options.

KidStrong is opening in New Braunfels next year.

What we know: KidStrong will be opening at 738 FM 306, Ste. 102 in Q1 of 2027, or at the beginning of 2027, New Braunfels Franchisee Manuel Torres told Community Impact. Torres, a New Braunfels local, said the city continues to grow and there are more families, which is why he decided to bring KidStrong to the area.

What is it? KidStrong is a science-based kids training program that helps kids build self-confidence and character through 45-minute, weekly classes. KidStrong serves children who are walking to age 11, according to its website.

On Sept. 1, the State Board of Education moved forward with an overhaul of what Texas high schoolers will learn in four social studies courses: U.S. History, U.S. Government, World History and World Geography.

What's happening: Roughly 100 Texans testified about the high school curriculum rewrite at an Aug. 31 meeting, with the debate revolving around how students would learn about the two largest world religions, Christianity and Islam.

Dozens of Muslim Texans asked that students learn about the religion’s core principles and how Muslims have contributed to advancements in math, science and medicine throughout history.

Some testifiers said the social studies curriculum should highlight the role of Christianity in the founding of Texas and the U.S., praising the board for prioritizing “American exceptionalism” and topics that they said would teach students to love the country.

The context: The discussion comes as the Republican-led board nears the finish line on its new K-12 social studies curriculum standards.

If approved, the new requirements will be rolled out to public school classrooms in the 2030-31 school year.

Voters in the newly redrawn US House District 37 will choose their representative on Nov. 3, with early voting running Oct. 19-30. Community Impact asked candidates in competitive races to answer a set of questions on their motivations, priorities, and vision for the district.
