City of Jersey Village moves forward with planning for community pool

The City of Jersey Village will enter an initial planning phase for the proposed municipal pool after City Council authorized a contract with a design firm on Sept. 15.

In a nutshell: Council's decision comes ahead of the Nov. 4 bond election, which includes a $6.5 million proposition to fund the construction of a new city pool and pump house. The city will cancel the contract with the design firm if the bond fails in November, according to a Sept. 18 newsletter from the city.

Also of note: The city council approved an application for a $90,000 grant from the Houston-Galveston Area Council's Solid Waste Management Program, which, if awarded, would help the city purchase and install cameras to deter illegal dumping.
