Clear Creek ISD trustees approve members for school health advisory council

A number of community members within Clear Creek ISD will begin meetings for the district’s school health advisory council, or SHAC.

The board of trustees approved health care professional Bryan Schneider to be a board-selected member of the council at its Oct. 27 meeting.

In a nutshell: The district’s SHAC is a collaborative group of parents, educators, health professionals and community members who advise CCISD on health-related policies and programs, according to the district’s website.

Also of note: Before selecting Schneider, CCISD’s board selected 15 parent members at its Oct. 13 workshop through a random drawing after over 170 parents responded with interest in September, board documents note.

League City seeking to renovate FM 270 boat ramp with state funds

League City officials have deemed the boat ramp on Clear Creek near FM 270 to be near the end of its life cycle, and are seeking state funds to renovate it and make it suitable for all types of boats. 

The details: League City City Council voted unanimously to apply for a grant through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, or TPWD, at its Oct. 28 meeting. 

The cost: Improvements to the public boating ramp located on Clear Creek are expected to cost $2 million, with the biggest construction costs being bulkhead improvements, sidewalks and ramp rehabilitation, according to city documents.

Huntington Bancshares acquires Cadence Bank

Huntington Bancshares announced in October that it would acquire Cadence Bank, which has several locations throughout Austin, Dallas and Houston. 

What you need to know: Huntington Bancshares shared an Oct. 27 news release stating that it would acquire Cadence Bank, which has 390 locations throughout the southern U.S. 

The release states that with the acquisition, Huntington will not close any existing Cadence Bank branches.
