Mobile pet grooming service Paw Control will now have a brick-and-mortar location after the business purchased Club Canine’s boarding and kennel facility in Denton Aug. 28.

The details: The facility will be renamed to Club Canine by Paw Control, which is already up and running at the new site, according to a news release. Some of the services offered include pet grooming, baths and nail trims for dogs, cats, birds and rodents.

The kennel and grooming location off McKinney Street sits on 3.5 acres and has the capacity to offer full-service grooming, boarding and kenneling for 40 dogs, the release states.

Harvest House will bring a fresh farmers market to its location this fall, owner Hannah Burks confirmed.

The details: Burks said the Harvest House Farmers Market will focus on fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, handmade items and local goods.

“Our goal is to keep it feeling like a true farmers market, with an emphasis on local growers, makers and producers,” she said. “We’d especially love to see fresh produce, locally baked bread, eggs, flowers, honey, dairy and other locally grown or produced goods, along with a thoughtful selection of handmade items. We want to be intentional about the vendor mix so that it doesn’t become oversaturated with any one category.”

The markets are scheduled for Sundays from noon-4 p.m. and Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. Burks said she hopes to debut the market within the next few weeks and have them run through the end of November. Harvest House will also host a special Christmas and holiday market in December.

The backstory: Hannah Burks and her husband, Matt Burks, became the new owners of Harvest House in June, according to previous reporting.

The first public air taxi test in Texas debuted in Fort Worth Sept. 10 with an audience that included U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy, Sen. Ted Cruz and numerous federal, state and regional leaders.

The takeaway: The Texas Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration, officially launched Project Nexus at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport. The project is a pilot program for electric vertical takeoff and landing, or eVTOLs.

The initiative will bring together federal, state and regional transportation leaders with aviation manufacturers and operators to begin testing how advanced air mobility can be safely integrated into the nation’s transportation system, according to a news release.

“For those of y'all who are old enough to remember 'The Jetsons,' I remember flying cars and we’re at the verge of seeing flying cars,” Cruz said. “We’re at the verge of air taxis and drones and transportation being transformed.”

This November, four candidates are running to lead the Texas Comptroller's Office and serve as the state's chief financial officer.

The overview: Libertarian V. Alonzo Echavarria-Garza, Democrat Sarah Eckhardt, Green Party candidate Shehla Faizi and Republican Don Huffines are running for comptroller. Huffines, whom Gov. Greg Abbott appointed to the office in July, is considered the incumbent in this race.

How it works: The comptroller oversees government spending and administers the state's $1 billion education savings account program, which launched ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
