Nuclear share up, coal down: CPS Energy updates City Council on Vision 2027 plan

To provide San Antonio City Council with an update on CPS Energy’s strategic plan, utility officials gave a brief presentation encompassing recent energy acquisitions and updates on the company's transition to more renewable resources Nov. 5.

The big picture: Known as the Vision 2027 Generation Plan, the plan was first approved Jan. 23, 2023, and guides the utility company’s approach to diversifying and strengthening CPS’s sustainable resources portfolio.

“We have five key elements of Vision 2027: evolving the operations of our utility, focusing on our financial stability, centering all of our work around our customers, building a strong team culture, and encouraging community partnership and growth throughout the regions that we serve,” Elaina Ball, chief strategy officer for CPS Energy, said.

During the presentation, CPS officials said it was ahead of its original 2023 generation plan and had increased its ownership share of a nuclear power plant and made major acquisitions of natural gas in late 2023.

North San Antonio-based law firm celebrates 20 years of practice across Texas

This law firm, headquartered in North San Antonio, is celebrating a big milestone this year with its practice throughout the region.

Long story short: Rosenblatt Law Firm recognized its 20th anniversary in practice on Sept. 10, according to a Facebook post from the group.

Founded in 2005 in North San Antonio, the law firm has expanded into the Austin and Houston metro areas.

Sorting out details: Rosenblatt Law Firm mainly specializes in legal advice and representation for businesses in Texas.

According to the firm’s website, 16 legal areas are covered, including business law, construction, exit strategy, employment law, real estate and more.

In addition to business matters, the practice can also assist with personal legal challenges from a variety of angles.

Peggy's on the Green set to close after 9 years serving Boerne

This Southern-style restaurant in Boerne plans to close at the end of the month.

Current situation: Peggy’s on the Green, situated inside The Kendall at 128 W. Blanco Road, is closing its doors on Nov. 30, restaurant staff told Community Impact.

While the eatery is closing, staff said a new concept with a similar team and chef is expected to take its place.

“The new owners are transitioning food & beverage in-house, and we’ll be closing to make room for the inn’s next chapter and Chef Bohanan’s future vision,” the restaurant announced on a Nov. 6 Facebook post.

Staff said the eatery could reopen under a new name with a similar menu as soon as Dec. 3.

Diving deeper: Peggy’s on the Green first opened in 2016, according to the restaurant’s website.

The diner offers classic American-style cuisine from Chef Mark Bohanan, with lunch and dinner options.

The restaurant is locally owned by Zack Aly. Although this is Aly's first time owning a restaurant, he said he has worked for other burger joints in the past, which is what inspired him to open his own.
