Fossil Wash
The Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land is offering kids a chance to be paleontologists for a day. Children, accompanied by an adult, can search for bone fragments in recently excavated dirt and participate in other dinosaur-related activities.

Sugar Land Town Square Fall Fest

Hispanic Heritage Month art class

Fort Bend County approves $3.01M Kitty Hollow Park improvements

New features, including additional pavilions, are coming to Missouri City’s Kitty Hollow Park.

The 190-acre park, located at 9555 Hwy. 6, is maintained by Fort Bend County and contains eight party pavilions, play areas—including softball and soccer fields—and a dog park, according to the county's website.

Zooming in: At a Sept. 9 meeting, Fort Bend County commissioners unanimously approved a $3.01 million construction contract with APEX Consulting Group to add features to Kitty Hollow Park, including:

  • 18 small pavilions
  • Two large pavilions
  • Two maintenance buildings, totaling 8,000 square feet
  • A small equipment shed and wash rack
  • Site drainage and paving
  • Utilities extensions

Looking ahead: The project is expected to be completed within a year of signing the notice to proceed, per agenda documents.

Local Spot has opened its doors next to Adventure Island Pool in Cross Creek Ranch.

The new venture from Eat Local Concepts, which owns several Local Table locations in the Greater Houston area, aims to provide casual fare, classic bar bites and craft cocktails as well as menu favorites from Local Table, Community Impact reported.

Designed to remind customers of a Parisian evening or a Bordeaux tasting room, Chateau Bellecru serves a curated selection of wines from vineyards across France, according to the business’s website.

The chateau sits near the intersection of I-10 and Studemont Street, hosting wine tastings and private celebrations, among other experiences.

The menu posted online states that a selection of red and white wines is updated weekly. The wine bar also offers rosé wines and nonalcoholic options as well as a selection of appetizers, including pastries and charcuterie boards.
