Frisco's $1.5 million Gallegos Park reinvestment project is complete after a year of construction. 

Zooming out: The park reinvestment project was funded by park development funds, general obligation funding and community development block grant funds. Frisco’s Gallegos Park is one of several park projects nearing completion, including Northwest Community Park. Construction on Gallegos Park began following its temporary closure in July 2025.

What’s new? The reinvestment project added new grading and paving, site furnishings, a playground, pavilion, sports equipment, monument signage, lighting, rubberized surfacing and a new drinking fountain.

The reinvestment project also brought a new half basketball court and dedicated workout areas to the park. Landscaping efforts were also completed, including the installation of a box culvert. The project allowed city staff to complete annual playground inspection training. 

Frisco's Crunch Fitness is investing $400,000 in renovations, including upgrades to the gym's interior and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, with construction expected to continue through June 2027.

The renovations mark the second round of improvements for Crunch Fitness Frisco, which allocated $500,000 to bring new features like the hot yoga studio, boxing area and updated equipment in August 2024.

A new restaurant has entered the Frisco dining scene.

The Mango Yard opened in May and is now serving international and Indian dishes to guests. 

A closer look: Menu items include whole fish branzino, Pousson chicken, butter chicken with garlic, chargrilled lamb and naan seasoned with either butter or garlic.

In addition to the modern Indian cooking offered at the restaurant, live music, performances and a full bar are offered as well.

1. Prosper Trail construction
Project: Prosper Trail will undergo a full pavement reconstruction from Coit Road to Custer Road. The new pavement section will be a four-lane concrete divided roadway.
Update: The design phase is nearing completion, and construction is expected to begin in summer 2028.

Throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, airports such as Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport are planning upgrades. At McKinney National Airport, a carrier is planning flights.

1. American to open 2 Admirals Club lounges: Fort Worth-based American Airlines plans to open its largest Admirals Club lounge within Terminal C at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, according to a news release.

The airline also plans to include a grab-and-go option inside the initial phase of Terminal F, which is expected to open next year.

2. Dallas Love Field Airport receives federal funding: The Federal Aviation Administration will invest $23.7 million in Dallas Love Field Airport to enhance the travel experience.

3. Avelo Airlines plans service to 5 destinations from McKinney National Airport: Avelo Airlines will launch commercial air service at McKinney National Airport later this year with plans for nonstop flights to five destinations.

The airline will offer flights to Las Vegas and four cities in Florida: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa, according to a June 30 news release.
