Fair Oaks Ranch is working with the San Antonio Water System, or SAWS, to upsize a portion of an existing water main for emergency use. The project is located between Fair Oaks Parkway and Leslie Pfeiffer Drive, near the Frost Bank property and the upcoming Cinco De Mayo restaurant property.
The details: Procurement Manager Clayton Hoelscher said the purpose of the project is to provide the city with a backup water supply in the event of pressure loss, system failure, extended power outages or other emergencies.
Around 700 feet of 3- and 6-inch lines will be replaced with 12-inch lines capable of bringing in approximately 1,000 gallons per minute, according to the April 2 agenda.
A bid for the project was awarded to RL Jones LP for $287,453. The project budget was $382,340. Alongside city funding for the project, the owners of the Cinco De Mayo restaurant will contribute $50,000 towards the extension. City staff said the project is expected to take around 71 days to complete from the start of construction.
