Two new members of McKinney ISD’s school board were elected in May, and sworn into office later that month.

The details: Corey Homer, a commercial real estate sales agent, is a former MISD employee and the parent of an MISD student, his campaign website states. He was elected to serve on the board in Place 3. 

Kenneth Ussery, a Realtor and life coach, has been elected and served on the board previously. He now serves in the Place 2 seat on the board. 

In an interview with Community Impact, Homer and Ussery spoke about their experience serving on the board since being elected, as well as their aspirations for the district.

Milestones Pediatric recently opened in McKinney, a practice representative said.

What they offer: The medical office provides various services, including:

• Sick visits and urgent care
• Newborn care

📪️ JR Mailbox Plus is now open in McKinney, CEO Jeff Losner said.

The gist: The business offers a variety of services that range from shipping and packing to notary services. Mailboxes are also available for rent, Losner said.

1. Chipotle: The fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain offers custom bowls, salads and burritos, the website states. This restaurant will also feature a Chipotlane—a drive-thru pick-up lane that allows guests to pick up digital orders without leaving their cars.

Frisco ISD families have a new option when it comes to their child’s education before Kindergarten.

The gist: FISD announced its full-day, tuition-based pre-K program Sept. 15. Children at least 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for the program, district officials said. Tuition for the program is $678 per month or free for qualifying students.

Enrollment is now open for families with limited space available at select campuses.
