Get to know the newest McKinney ISD school board trustees: Corey Homer and Kenneth Ussery

Two new members of McKinney ISD’s school board were elected in May, and sworn into office later that month.

The details: Corey Homer, a commercial real estate sales agent, is a former MISD employee and the parent of an MISD student, his campaign website states. He was elected to serve on the board in Place 3. 

Kenneth Ussery, a Realtor and life coach, has been elected and served on the board previously. He now serves in the Place 2 seat on the board. 

In an interview with Community Impact, Homer and Ussery spoke about their experience serving on the board since being elected, as well as their aspirations for the district.

Frisco ISD launches new tuition-based pre-K program

Frisco ISD families have a new option when it comes to their child’s education before Kindergarten.

The gist: FISD announced its full-day, tuition-based pre-K program Sept. 15. Children at least 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for the program, district officials said. Tuition for the program is $678 per month or free for qualifying students.

Enrollment is now open for families with limited space available at select campuses.
