Lakeview Pavilion at Old Settlers Park to open in November with concert

The new two-story, open-air pavilion area at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock will open this November with a celebration featuring live music, a ribbon cutting and fireworks.

The setup: As part of the ongoing expansion at Old Settlers Park, the city has built a new open-air pavilion and permanent stage in the Lakeview area. The new space, designed to serve as a gathering place for concerts and other community events, features modern restroom facilities and the city plans to build a new Joanne Land Playground.

What’s happening?: To celebrate, the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department will host Lakeview Kickoff: A Stone in the Park on Nov. 15.

Island Riddim Jerk & BBQ Grill to open mid-October in Round Rock

A Caribbean restaurant is set to open in Round Rock in the next few weeks, bringing cuisine and culture from the region.

About the business: Island Riddim Jerk & Grill will open in the University Commons retail center near the northwest corner of I-35 North and University Boulevard mid-October. The restaurant will combine Caribbean cuisine, such as it's signature jerk chicken, oxtails, curry and familiar favorites like barbecue.

About the owners: The restaurant is locally owned by husband-and-wife duo Dianne and Wayne Anderson, who are from Jamaica. Wayne will be the chef at Island Riddim once it opens, Dianne said.

What to know about getting around Austin during ACL 2025

Thousands of music fans will gather at Zilker Park for the Austin City Limits Music Festival, taking place Oct. 3-5 and Oct. 10-12.

What you need to know: Zilker Park is closed to public access Sept. 22-Oct. 19, with road closures nearby. Expect lane reductions or full closures on Stratford Drive, Barton Springs Road, Jessie Street, Azie Morton Road, Stephen F. Austin Drive, Veterans Drive, Rollingwood Drive, and eastbound Bee Cave Road. Limited or shuttle-only access will also be in effect on streets near the park.

The city’s transportation and public works department has an interactive street closure map to view road closure and lane reduction schedules. Parking will be restricted, with several Zilker lots closed through Oct. 19. Limited parking is available at Butler Shores, Riverside Drive, Veterans Drive, and Polo Field. Heavy congestion is expected near MoPac.

Check out these new restaurants and bars opening across the Austin area.

A new food truck park featuring pickleball courts, an off-leash dog park and a coffee trailer opened in East Austin in early September.


The bring-your-own-beverage hang out spot, known as Webberville District, is the latest concept by Union Venture Group.


The district is home to Mexican food truck Guac and Go and A Hole Coffee trailer. The coffee business takes orders at a walk-up trailer or receives orders virtually and delivers drinks through a hole in a cement wall.

Nana B’s Country Kitchen, owned by Victor Friar and Keysha Nichols-Friar, is now open in Round Rock.


The restaurant offers comfort food with dishes such as smash burgers, fried catfish, turkey legs, oxtails, wings, chili and more.


“Everything is made with love,” Nichols-Friar said. “It’s not just food; it’s a whole vibe.”
