Leader Fitness constructing new gym in Spring

Leader Fitness is building a new 30,000 square foot gym facility in Spring off Kuykendahl Road, per a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.

In a nutshell: The membership based gym currently has one location in Tomball, and is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year, per the website. Membership options include:

  • Gold member: $69.65 per monthly bill, around the clock facility access, unlimited group training classes, and more

  • Paid in full: $700 one-time yearly payment, everything as a gold member, priority on new classes

  • Weekend warrior: $29.95 per month, weekend facility access, group training classes, cold plunges and saunas

Leader Fitness also offers a $20 all-inclusive day pass for single visits, according to the website. Class options vary throughout the week, ranging from yoga to high-intensity interval training camps, per the online schedule.

H-GAC to host Safety Action Plan public meeting to discuss road safety in Greater Houston area

The Houston-Galveston Area Council will host a public meeting Aug. 5 for its Safety Action Plans—an effort to improve transportation safety and reduce serious roadway injuries and fatalities, according to a July 27 news release from H-GAC.

Why it matters: The Houston-Galveston region accounts for nearly 20% of traffic deaths in Texas, and every day an average of two people are killed and 10 people are seriously injured in traffic crashes across the region, according to H-GAC’s website.

A closer look: H-GAC is working with local governments, transportation agencies and community partners to identify critical issues and help lead future safety improvements, per the release.
